Show-Off Culture

Show-Off Culture and Individual's Intentions

Is this world really adopting show off culture or they are happy with sharing every single thing even private thing to everyone?

Is showing everything to everyone is appropriate?

Does it really make you happy or more conscious about what other might thing about you?

These are the types of questions you might usually ask yourself, others or have listened in some lazy gossips. And you might have not found the right answer.

The phrase "That person is such a show-off" you must had have heard in your life or even said it yourself about others. But internationally or unintentionally we are also doing the same in some way. Likewise, Snobbery is also becoming a part of our lives. We just say things for acknowledgment that we are aware of it but intentionally or unintentionally we are part of it. We brag about a lot of things and always weaving around just to show off that you are involved in breaking stereotypes but in actual you are somehow also part of it. For example, we always brag about being respectful towards your parents an elder, people usually put a lot of pictures of their parents on parents day and bragging about how respectful you shouldn’t be towards them but in actual you are not doing the same what you say. Likewise, people are bragging about child labor on internet, and might they have a 10-year boy or girl coming with their parents to work at your home.

In the same context of show-off, we are doing things which we might not be comfortable with, but we do it to have influence on others perception about you. For example, people buying expensive phone e.g., iPhone. Yes! It's true that buying it might make them happy but unconsciously they think about making other happy of him, acknowledging him etc. Unintentionally but, People like being acknowledged or appraised and they also appraise or Respect those who are strong in position. And this phenomenon leads to people being unsatisfied about themselves all the time. People start caring about other's opinion, perceptions, and appreciation more than their happiness and limits.

Is social media playing a role in normalizing show off?

People looking at phones for likes and comments

We can obviously notice that with passage of time and growing technological era, this culture is becoming a casual thing. But we cannot deny that this never existed people still used to show off at that time when there was no social media or technology, but they would do it by presenting and bragging their things in front of those who would get either jealous or inspired. But it is also true that at that time this was not that much easy or normal. Now, every single person is doing this and not even thinking about that what they are doing. It is becoming a norm to put pictures on your social media accounts about everything you had, where you go, where you are, what you are wearing, what you are feeling not thinking about how some people who are jealous of you are becoming more annoyed by you and the people who are deprived from that luxury are getting into more complex.

Even some people do charity to show off that they are kind, and this happens mostly in
Hand putting a thumbs up sticker to piggy bank showing donation for likes
politics. This can give you a temporary satisfaction that everyone is praising of what you have but for long run you are destroying your and maybe others mental health. You will always be in a hurry that you have to show this to others as well and worrying about this all the time can become a stress and more importantly you miss a beautiful time or feeling right at moment while sharing with others who don't even care or even jealous of what you have. In other sense you might be doing things you don't actually want to do just to show off. For instance, buying expensive phone that you couldn't afford but you took a loan etc. just to show others about your worth. Likewise, people specially youth get into smoking, drinking alcohol and even drugs just to show off that they are fulfilling the term of being cool. Which is not destroying their physical but mental health. If we see the other side, people who can't afford those things are also being exploited as they are somehow being forced to see what they have and they start being ungrateful of what they have, they are always unsatisfied and in stress.

Has show-off culture only one and bad side?

No, we cannot conclude this as some people are using it for sake of awareness. Some people show their success and success stories so that others can also get inspired and work too. Likewise, some people do show their charity to spread awareness about that class of society who needs this and to motivate others to do the same. Some people might not like sharing about these things to others which is also good but sharing it with the intention of awareness and motivate is best.

Everything has a positive and a negative side. So, it all depends on your intentions of showing off, what you are sharing and how you are sharing.  But there are some limits and privacy that shouldn't be a show-off as it takes away the real beauty of life while you were capturing it to please others.

Growing up-How it effects our mental health...???

How does the growing up effect our mental health?

Now a days there are many mental health issue that are develop in growing up stages of the children. These mental health issue are neurodevelopment issue, depression, anxiety, stress disorder etc.

At the age 5 to 10 years we think we can to very thing as we are not aware of our surrounding and we set our goal very high when we reach at the age of our teen and we are not able to get any oppurtunities to achieves our goal and sometime the financial condition are not enough to achieve our goal and get the higher education and achieve our goal that thing leave a very deep impact on our mental health because we are not able get what we dream at our early stage of growing up it can also lead to the depression and other mental health issue.

The teenage is very important in growing up stages in this period the emotion of the person is very high and the hormones is very active the chances of getting mental illness in teenage is very high and also they experience very emotional turmoil and to reduce their depression and the anxiety they also can develop the habit o the smoking and the worst case they start getting indulge in the drugs and try to attempt the suicide.

Technology and its effect on the growing age

In recent years the technology is expanding and its effect the every area of our life. Technology change the way of our communication and because of this the world is became a global village but it have many negative impact on the growing stage. The increased in the usage of the screen and the social media in the children and in teens increased the risk of the depression and anxiety as the development of the children is depend on the different factor but they tend to use only the technology at their growing stage which leads to the depression, low-self-esteem and the working in the group form and they are not able to focus on their daily routine.as the increase in the time with the technology that decrease the time that we spent on our physical activities that can help us to release our stress and decrease the risk of developing the mental illness issues.

Spoiling children at their growing age and their effect on the mental health

Those parents who spoil their children too much at their growing stage are harmful for children

and as well as the society. They think themselves very superior and they do not acknowledge other in front of themselves and they are often indulge in bullying other in the school that develop the mental illness in those students and they take everything for granted.

Those children who are spoiled too much at their growing stage they depend on others too much which can cause them troubles in the future from which they are not aware and when they start to realize their responsibility and are not able to fulfil them than they are likely to develop the mental issue that is depression ,anxiety etc. They source of happiness is other not themselves because they depend on other too much.

The spoiled child are unable to fulfil their responsibility and unable to understand their limits when to stop they most likely to develop the habit of drinking gambling and other bad habits. They are unmotivated and unhappy with their lives and develops a mental health issues in those children who are spoiled at their growing up stage.

Is there any relation between physical health and the mental health..???

Mental health and the physical health is interlinked as if our mental health is not good we are in the depression then will have a long term effect on our physical health because we lost interest in engaging to those activity which we like to do.

In my opinion now a days we only talk about the mental health of a person however mental health is important but our physical health carry an equal importance as our mental health but we neglect our physical health in our daily routine. Our mind and body is one thing these are not separate if we have some physical health issue it can also cause a mental health issue it is not necessary that only mental health issue can cause the physical health issue like if we are not mentally relax it can cause the heart problem anxiety can cause the stomach issue. As the mental health issue can cause the physical health issue physical health issue can also cause the mental health issue like the depression can cause by the headache.

How can we improve our mental and physical health?

We can improve our mental health and physical health by doing some physical activities which help us to keep our mind relax as exercise considered to be an important thing to maintain our mental fitness like workouts , jogging , swimming , cycling ,boxing and dancing etc. These physical activities help us to release our stress and fresh our mind and increase our self-confidence and also these activities can get us into the nature which help us to keep relax which help us to come out from the depression and the anxiety.

We should eat well and take healthy food it can also it will help us in strengthen the physical health and change our mood when our mood is good and we do not take any kind of stress than the percentage of developing the mental illness is reduce in short if we have a good physical health than also we have a great mental health.

Sports and the mental health

When we do physical activities our body release the hormones which are the natural mood booster and help us to fight with the negative thoughts and improve our mental health.

Sports increase our self-confidence

Those who participate in the sports are more likely to develop the team building skills as compare to those who don’t participate in the sports and they adopt the healthy team building mind set in the working place.

Self Love and Spread Love

How to love yourself even not fitting to Artificial Beauty Standards
A curly haired girl grabbing a paper saying Love yourself.

Beauty standards and their Reality

Skin Surgeon telling a pig that he has done surgery but he will still be a pig.
Many people suffer from anxiety and depression on the things they can't control. And there are somethings they can control but they don't know that they can. In today's world everything is possible, and people think that with money they can do anything just like when people don't like something in their physical appearance, they think that they can change it if they have money. And this is the cause of rising beauty standards day by day and the fun fact is those standards are not even natural or attractive. What makes a person attractive is their character. But in today's world people get attracted to others for their appearance but it's a fact that this attraction has always been proved temporary because for longer run people with you will know your reality who you really are and what your character is.

In the past few years since pandemic people are having more anxiety than usual. Yes! Corona fear was one of the main reasons but low self esteem, self hate, and fear to show up was also a main reason. As many of us got weight or skin issues due to sitting all day and unhealthy eating patterns. And that is absolutely not right because things which are unhealthy for you, can never be justified to intake. But many people became more conscious about themselves and people who have no control over it for example people with certain disease who can't lose, or gain weight become more frustrated, and they lose their confidence. My point here is that if you have control over loosing or gaining weight you should do it for your health but if not then torturing yourself, hating yourself and loosing your confidence just because of these artificial beauty standards is injustice.

Weight is just one variable in these standards. Others are Perfect eyes, cheeks, lips, hair, hands, teeth, skin, and the list go on and it doesn't end. People are physically torturing and tolerating severe pain just to fulfill these standards of being perfect and irony is that when you fulfill it they would say you were better before🤐. Even if they don't say it but what's the point of going through this much pain, emotionally, physically, and financially too as these perfection costs some monetary value too and bring people to footpath😅.

And when people can't afford it, they are always thinking how to get it done as soon as possible, from where can I get this much money. They start assuming that life is going to be perfect when I'll get this done with my appearance. They think that their appearance is the reason of their low confidence and due to this thinking, they lose even more confidence.

But the truth is

NO! NO! NO!

Life is never going to be perfect even if you do it, you are never going to be happy even if you look perfect. Appearance has no connection with your happiness that lies only within you. If you are not happy with what you have then you'll never going to be happy with what you are wishing for. The only thing you need to understand is that the person who wants to be attracted to you by your appearance not your character then is that person worth your attention?

First you need to accept yourself the way you are.
Women with skin disease of vitiligo hugging herself.

When you'll accept that it is what it is, and you can not control it even if you have money then you won't be thinking about the solutions all the time to get rid of what you have and get what you don't have. You'll accept that life will be keep going with this and it doesn't matter at all. When you'll accept it, you will stop thinking about others opinion too, you will have more time to work on other things, you'll grow mentally, you'll achieve more things which are worth importance. For example, any goal you have about your career. When you will be accepting that you are just the way you are then you won't waste your time in thinking about it.

Secondly you need to surround yourself with positive people.

Some people appraising a person for winning

Surrounding yourself with people who are positive and optimistic, who appreciate you for your achievements and the character you have, who will help you grow emotionally, mentally and in life as your career as well. Just observe these types of people who are worth your importance and time. Filter them out and avoid those people who are always keep you conscious about your looks and weaknesses. Well, that's not very easy nor very difficult to avoid such type of people because sometimes they are in your family, your colleagues with whom you have to work with so, you simply can never cut them out of your life. But the things you have to do is ignore them, never become too personal in your conversations with them so that they can say something about you and give them a nice shut up call in your own professional way, so they won't utter such things next time.

Third and most important step is to love your self.

After accepting what you are you can even start loving yourself. Just appraise what you have. Ignore the weaknesses. Yes! Obviously work on them but don't let your weaknesses overcome your strengths. Even when nobody is appreciating, appreciate yourself. Don't expect someone to come and tell you that you are beautiful. Not expecting from someone and enjoying your own company is one of the greatest blessings that leads to a healthier life. Just tell yourself that you are beautiful because you are just the way you were meant to be. Treat yourself as the most important person in your life, whose appreciation and opinion are the most important. Give royalty to yourself. Give treats to yourself. Eat healthy for yourself, wear good for your self. Just do what makes YOU happy. Start loving your achievements and the good things you do. Focus on good things and you'll not have time to focus on things you can't control.

A girl doing yoga and focusing on her tasks, goals and achievments.

And lastly spread love.

Some people just love themselves and give importance to themselves so much that they forget about what other people need. You should give importance to yourself but not only to yourself. You should be your priority but not only you. You must take care of the needs of people close to you. When people love themselves, they become a happier version of themselves but those are the people who bring happiness in this world. You must share your happiness with others too in need, you must lead others too to become optimistic. Maybe it can be your love or words that were needed for them to change their life. So, keeping yourself a priority, spread love whenever you get a chance.

Girls hugging each other in affection.

Life is too short to think and waste time on achieving perfection in your appearance that is going to give you nothing but some artificial people who are attracted to your outer beauty who are not worth it and not going to help you grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. You must give time to yourself to work on your inner beauty and mental health. Then people who are worth your importance and who want to see you grow and be happy, will be attracted to you.

You are the main source of your happiness so, create your happiness and also become a reason for a smile on others face too as when you are happy, you give a beautiful vibe to others that forces them to get attracted to you.

Verbal/written harassment:-

Verbal or written harassment is very common we causaly say offensive words in the gathering which we might think its okay but that is not okay someone might get embarrass and it will impact the mental health of the person so we do not take our words for granted we must use the appropriate words. Harassment and bully system in schools

Harassment and bullying in schools or in any educational institutes is unlawful in the UK under the act 2010. In school or universities may some student spreads rumors about the specific student to get revenge or degrade them it will cause the deep impact on the student mental health that leads to the depression and cause the mental illness in worst case the student may try to attempt the suicide and his or her life to stop these things.

There are two types of bullying one is direct and the other is indirect in educational system it is very common. There are many studies that tell us the suicide rate of the students is increase because of the harassment and the bullying system in the education which is very bad thing.in educational institute students try to stay strong and fight with these things but at the end of the day they give up and attempt the suicide to overcome all of these misery.

In Korean educational system there are many cases the high class students can easily bully the low class student no one is able to stop them and if some try to help the victim that person also start get bully by those high class students which leave the very bad impression on their mental health.

It is not easy to deal with the harassment only few people are able to deal with it and those who have very strong mental health those that can deal with their feeling and those who are not bothered by these things which leads them in to mental illness.

MUSIC IS DESTROYING MENTAL HEALTH ?

Technological development and excessive usage of mobile phones have lead the world towards countless mental illnesses beyond a person’s imagination. The transforming world at super-sonic pace and increased competitive behaviors among individuals with the want of more and more has lead a generation of youngsters more vulnerable to mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, hypertension and constant stress. A world formed within our mobile phones at just a single click away from us has left us comparing ourselves with everyone on social media and the hyper reality that it follows, leads the thought processes of a person towards something which becomes uncontrollable for them to take care of, if not identified by themselves and set limits to. No doubt, positive sides do beheld and outgrow various factors that have helped shape the world into the form it is right now, in many better ways, but the ultimate effect that everyone is bearing in form of mental health is something not to be ignored at all, let alone the stigma of talking about it.

Excessive scrolling on social media, mobile addiction, repetitive behaviors, constant boredom and fatigue are the aspects that are usually focused upon by researchers when discussing the effects these terminologies have on our mental health.

Meanwhile, talking about the effects music has on our mental health, we settle down and become less impulsive when we listen to music, which is due to the rhythmic and repeated elements of the song. Music is frequently used to match or alter our emotional state. While there are certain advantages to matching music to our mood, doing so can have the unintended consequence of keeping us in a sad, angry, or nervous state.

Whereas positive effects being discussed that the music has on our mental health include, reduction in stress, that is, the melodies that we listen to, with the frequency it is settled upon, different pitches affect our mood differently whereas mostly it has proven to be helpful in releasing stress for the listener. Secondly it elevates a person’s mood and motivation towards certain things, third, it is said to help improvise focus of a person, and also help in reducing anxious and depressive thoughts for a person.

For most people, music is an important part of their daily lives. Be it their aily travelling, they listen to music to keep them going. Some people turn up a favorite playlist to keep them going during a workout, too. Many people even turn their music on even cooking, taking a shower, as well as while they wrap the laundry.

For some people, music is a way to be creative, for others it's a way to relax, and for us, it can have a big impact on our mood. Music can make us dance, run faster, calm our minds, and make us remember things. Producing your own melodies, even if you just play a guitar or write lyrics to a song, proves beneficial in expressing and processing your feelings. How you feel is more important than how it sound. One thing to be mindful of is that no one has to listen to your music unless you want them to.

Emotional control is an important part of mental health. People who can't control their emotions are more likely to have psych mood disorders like distress. Medical practitioners know how powerful music can be when it comes to emotions. They can use music to help their clients improve their moods and even help relieve the symptoms of psychiatric mood disorders like depression. Besides, countless humans already hear music under their own to help them deal with their emotions. There isn't much information out there about how this kind of music listening affects their mental health, though. Brain imaging shows how people's brains respond to different types of music and how that affects how they control their emotions. In a study, it was found that men who use music to deal with negative emotions react badly to aggressive and sad music.

A STORY OF DEPRESSION- SUSHAN SINGH RAJPOOT

SUSHAN SINGH RAJPOOT

Depression, a word that has become one of the most commonly known mental illness around the globe, needs little or no introduction because of its abundant presence and the way almost every human being has to go through it. Depression is majorly said to happen when one starts perceiving cognitive distortions, relies upon past too much and starts thinking in a way that they find no escape from and feels like all doors have been closed upon them. There are many forms of depression, but dysthymia is one of the most common and most serious. It impacts how you feel, how you reckon, and how you behave. Luckily, it can also be fixed. Distress leaves you feeling sorrowful and lose interest in things you used to enjoy. This can cause a wide range of physical and emotional problems, and that it can make it hard for you to operate and live a normal life. It includes symptoms of sadistic mood, mood swings, loss of appetite which ultimately results in loss of weight, either feeling trouble sleeping or spending too much time sleeping, feeling exhausted, also including obvious physical effects as well such as shivering of hands, or feeling the urge to move around too much and not being able to sit still and concentrate, aspiring more social validation or acceptance and increased requirement of sense of belongingness, and in worst cases the suicidal thoughts.

Talking about our concerned case, a renowned Indian celebrity named Sushant Singh Rajput, born and raised in India, had reportedly committed suicide in his apartment, aged 34. Major causes were reported as the experiences he had been facing at the time and that he was going through depression. Sushant Singh was one of the toppers of his board during his college says and had gotten acceptance into an engineering university on scholarship basis due to his phenomenal academic performance and had immense love for physics and inventions and graduated as the topper of his batch during his engineering degree. Sushant gained worldwide fame with his career as an actor for Bollywood industry. Depression can acquire any form and can occur due to any reason, even much bigger celebrities who have starred in Hollywood such as Jim Carrey also go through worst forms of depression. Regardless of a person’s social status, his income or any other metric of success, a person can become prone to depression where they get stuck upon certain aspect of life and find it hard to come out of those thoughts. Story of Sushant Singh alarms us about awareness of mental health and acceptance regarding talking about it that is direly needed which already is a stigma to talk about mental health. In a world of such rapid changes and growing number of innovations and with such hyper reality at one click’s distance has left most of people around the globe comparing themselves to other people who are super competitive and achievement oriented. These behaviours have left people emotionally distorted which further lead them into developing negative thoughts about life and ending up as getting depressed. A depressed person might seem like living a normal life and having a good time doing what they do in their regular routines, but have depressing thoughts in their solo time, which is the reason mental health advocates urge and campaign for the awareness of mental health so that people become aware of their surroundings and notice if their friend or peer is going through such thing and offer them a helping hand in order to ease their racing thought of depression.

Sushant Singh was observed to live a normal life whereas reports say that he had been facing depression due to various unknown reasons. The death of young actor had become the talk of town ending up with people narrating different reasons for the cause of Sushant becoming depressed such as facing bullying in the industry and the decline of his career due to his personal conflicts with other industry dominant figures. The reasons yet are still unknown to the day as to what lead Sushant into depression and suicide but has become a lesson for us all to take care of the people around us and keep checking upon our friends and family if we notice any changes in their usual behaviours.

PETS HELP IN ELIMINATING ANXIETY

Human-animal relationships are extremely strong. And there's no denying that pets and mental health go hand in hand. According to a Harris poll from 2015, 95% of pet owners consider their animal to be a family member. Pets bring joy to children, teenagers, adults, and elders alike.

Pets have always been a perfect option for people while opting hobby to get busy in their schedules as well as get their minds off of the hectic routine they usually get stuck in. Studies and research have proven that pets help a person ease their mental stress and anxiety even by interacting for a mere time as 5 minutes. According to researchers, petting their animals releases dopamine and serotonin in their brains which ultimately help in eliminating anxiety. A psychologist named Alan Beck, affiliated with Purdue University, a psychiatrist by profession has published the very first research related to pets and mental health 30 years ago, according to which, he found out that pets have an ultimate effect upon the human body as a whole, not only confined to mental health, such as controlling blood pressure, that is, most pet owners can be seen becoming happier when interacting with their pets, secondly Alan determined that interaction with pets helped in slowing down the heart rate of a person. All of the signs mentioned in Alan’s research have proven to be signs of lessened stress in a human being.

The very first research published thirty years ago had developed scientists inclination towards discovering more about the relation between human beings and pets and further studies have proven that while observing their pet’s behavior and playing with them got their minds off of the tensions they had been facing throughout the day, ultimately making them feel like their pets are no lesser than their own family members.

While conducting researches, it was observed that pets help reduce stress in children and prevent them from childhood anxiety. Children who owned pets at their homes confront lesser tension within their lives and ultimately grow up to become mentally healthier and happier adults. Experiences and situations faced by a person through their adolescence have a huge effect on their mental health and determine the sort of adult beings they would turn out to be. So as far as pets are concerned, they would totally be beneficial in a child’s growth as it helps them develop a feeling of love and empathy towards animals and it not only becomes a hobby for them to become empathetic and loving towards living beings but also their nature develops into a loving ones

Owning a pet has its own perks and a feeling which cannot be put into words. The way the world is growing nowadays at a super-sonic speed and people getting busier with their lives along with hyper-reality social media just one touch away has left us human beings emotionally very distorted along with the hollowness followed by a need of belongingness and sense of validation by almost every human being. Owning a pet and having that creature to wait for you to just play with them gives a person an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction and belongingness which can be an extremely valuable feeling for pet owners which can be only understood by the experience of owning the pet.

Owning a pet has a dilemma of only staying limited to cats and dogs whereas it is not the case. Pets can be of any form, any species, or any animal. People around the globe have made it to the top marks of fame and reputation by owning unique pets such as an alligator, a porcupine, and above all, one that is considered one of the most expensive pet hobbies, that is, horses. Horse riding does not only have an effect upon a person’s mental health but also on their personality overall such as increased self-esteem, boosted confidence and also helps them stay in shape having an enormous effect on straightening their body postures, improvised leg strength as well as developing more alpha masculine traits. Horse riding is referred to as the game of kings, that is, it was globally admired by all the kings and emperors, including various warlords and dominant warriors in ancient times, which used to be a symbol of strength and strong mind-sets.

To conclude it all, it has been proven and accepted as a fact that pets have a positive effect on the mental health and well-being of a person helping people in improvised focus and better concentration.

Nostaligia - It's impact on mental health!!

Is nostalgia a neurological disorder or it is just a normal feeling or attachment with our past?

An antique clock showing time on table with some dried leaves

Sometimes somethings just remind us of the past. Things we used to be very attached in our past for instance music, a certain sound, event, etc. and then suddenly something reminds us of that attachment and we get a pleasure of enjoying that moment again. Sometimes it's pleasure and for some bad events in past, it becomes a cause of sorrow or even anxiety or depression.

The sentiments you have about your past that gives you a pleasure in your present is called nostalgia.

Before the 17th century nostalgia was referred to as a neurological disorder. The word is combination of ancient Greek, "Nosos" means returning to home or native land and algos referred as pain or suffering. The reason behind it was that the soldiers longing to go to home, always having an urge to meet their families and remembering them was referred to as a bad sign of nostalgia. At that time many psychologists attributed that it is a sign of severe depression if someone is living in the past.

A book, glasses lying on a book, and a watch clock on a table in vintage look

Well, always living in a past can be red flag of depression but sometimes having an affectionate feeling for your past, Sharing or reliving your past is a healthy lifestyle. As after 19th and 20th century after many researches, researchers found that nostalgia is not a neurological disorder, but in fact it is a good way to deal with loneliness, boredom and anxiety. It was found that many almost everyone has this sentimentality with some events in past. While remembering about the good events and attachments in the past, one feels a pleasure and gives a feeling of having a continuity in life, reminding him/her of his/her roots. It gives a texture to life and strength to move on. It gives a will that the life had good events the problems were resolved so it gives a hope that everything can be solved. In fact, while sharing your nostalgic memories gives a kind of relief and attachments to others. Couples who share their thoughts and memories of their past tend to become closer. When you share your experiences with others, the other person understands you better and the bonding becomes more stronger eventually. It reduces stress and feeling of loneliness.

Experimenting if it’s true or not

To test whether it's true or not some researchers did a very interesting experiment. They made some people read about a very deadly disaster to study their behavior. Expectedly they were worried about the victims of disaster and their feeling of being alone so they became more nostalgic. The experiment was a success as they practiced some nostalgic activities or exercises and then they felt less depressed.

Memories can be also a mix of sorrow and joy

These exercises are not always Joyous and stress relieving. Sometimes some memories are not always content. Sometimes they are mix of both the sorrow and joy. We remember the good parts, good time and events spent with a particular person but when we remember that the particular person in no longer with you, it becomes painful to remember. As long as you face the truth and share more good side of your nostalgic attachment, nostalgia remains a healthy activity. But when you keep remembering and not sharing the bad sides of your past for example any trauma, any person you lost, or sometimes people overthink and try to feel and bring back the older themselves that doesn't feel any more in you as you evolve day by day, then nostalgia becomes a problem. This sense of loss of others or yourself causes anxiety and mental illness. But according to researches nostalgia is not the only or main cause of anxiety in such rare cases, there are many other factors involved for example any genetical disorder, any other mental or neurological disorder that has nothing to do with nostalgia.

The positive results of nostalgic exercises are way more than the negative ones that have been seen very rarely. And it is also not clear that the negative outcomes are even the result of nostalgia or not.

This means that we cannot relate nostalgia to home sickness as in early centuries it used to be referred as. In fact, it is a healthy activity to get a relief from stress or something disturbing you. But indulging too much in your past is also not good as you enjoy less in your present or your mental health gets affected if you keep remembering about past unhealthy events. So, conclusively Nostalgia is not a neurological disorder but if practiced occasionally in appropriate manner it can become a healthy activity to get rid of daily stress.
